Currently Obsessed With + Life Update - June 2018

I told myself back in January that I would do more "life updates" on my blog. Clearly, I failed at that since it's now almost the end of June. If you follow me on Instagram, you have a good idea of what is going on in my life every day, but I like documenting life on my blog here as well. That's what having a blog is about, right?

But first, here are some things that I'm currently loving:

     The Handmaid's Tale
Ok, if you haven't started watching this, you need to get on this. It's a Hulu Exclusive show (if you don't have Hulu, here's my referral link), and releases a new episode every Wednesday. Based off a book that's on my "to be read" list, I binge-watched the entire first season and caught up on the second in a matter of two weeks, that is how good it is.

Long story short, and not giving away any spoilers, it takes place in a totalitarian society called Gilead, which is part of what used to be the United States. June / Offred is forced into being a handmaid, whose job is to be a sexual servant to families of power who can't conceive. The whole series is about her plan to escape and be reunited with her husband and daughter.

     Mexican Hot Chocolate Cookies
For some reason, the other day, I was feeling inspired to bake. I had all the ingredients for these cookies except the cayenne pepper, so of course, I needed to get that. The recipe that I followed can be found here. A modified recipe will be coming to my blog soon, with my own pictures, of cousse.

For the record, these cookies were a hit with my boyfriend's parents and my coworkers. I also managed to eat a few myself before starting a new diet.

     Color Street Nails
I am one of those girls that likes having her nails done. Seriously though, every three weeks like clockwork, I was hating how grown out my nails looked and getting tired of the color. While sitting at the salon can be relaxing, but in my mind, it's expensive and time-wasting.

My girlfriend Emily told me about Color Street and my life has been changed forever. While they aren't gel or dip quality, they last anywhere from a week to two weeks, cost ¼ the price, have an easy application process and no dry time, and have so many color and pattern options. I think I have about 20 sets waiting to be used, which could easily last me the rest of the year.

Be sure to check out Emily's Facebook page if you're interested in learning more.

     My Happy Playlist
I'm seriously obsessed with Spotify. I have recently been creating more playlists to cover all of my "moods" and this one is probably my favorite. Yes, I may have stolen some songs from my Girl Power and Workout playlists. And yes, Greatest Showman is on there.

(If you're looking for a good deal, Spotify and Hulu did a collab to give students a deal, so you can save some money that way.)

Time for a life update! I feel like I haven't actually documented what has been going on in my life in the past few months.
     I started a new job.
I've been here for a month and a half now and I'm still loving it. The commute to downtown isn't the greatest, but it definitely makes me feel like I'm adulting.
     I got a boyfriend.
About time, right? We met on an app called the League. Yes, that is the one that makes you link your LinkedIn profile. He was my first and only match in the month I was on the app. (I was also on the wait list for 6 months.) I guess good things happen to those who wait.

I bought myself a fancy camera.
Now I can choose if I want to use my iPhone 7+ OR my new (to me) camera. For those wondering, it's a FujiFilm X-A2. It's an older model, but it does what I want it to do, and it has a mirrorless screen so one day I can get into vlogging.

I started Weight Watchers and PIIT28.
I was debating starting another round of Whole30, but I really don't want to cut out everything from my diet again. One of my girlfriends told me about Weight Watchers and how it is possible to change your lifestyle in 3 months. Consider me sold. I can't wait to see results and share them with you all.
I also decided that now would be a good time for me to get back into working out. I've been following Blogilates for a while now and decided that her PIIT28 (Pilates Intense Interval Training) program was something I wanted to try. One week in and I'm already feeling it.
I became Yelp Elite in Columbus.
I can officially call myself a local influencer. For the past few months, I've been working on my Yelp-game, making sure to give quality reviews for anything I do in Columbus. For the record, quality does not equal positive. Now I'm part of a community of influencers that get to explore Columbus together! Now to bring more "local" to my blog. (I swear, it's coming.) If you want to follow me on Yelp, click here.

So yeah, thanks for caring about my life and reading this blog. I have so many things in store for the rest of the year, I swear. Just be patient with me... or you can be that person that constantly messages me reminding me to get my shit together... either will do.
