25 Things To Do Instead of Black Friday Shopping

Can you believe that the year is almost over? With the holiday season officially upon us, today is the day that some people have been waiting for since last year... Black Friday.

Deals galore will draw you into your favorite store and cause you to spend way more than you probably should. I'll be honest, I've never been one to partake in the festivities because I am usually working them. This year is a little different, and I'm lucky to be spending it with my family.

If you are the kind of person that hates crowds, making impulse buys, or shopping for 10 hours straight, I've made a list of 25 things you (and I) can do instead.

  1. Sleep off the rest of the tryptophan from last night.
  2. Take out the trash because nobody probably did that last night.
  3. Spend time with your family and do family things.
  4. Set up your Christmas tree, because now it is officially ok to start decorating.
  5. Eat your Thanksgiving Day leftovers. You can never go wrong with cornbread for breakfast.
  6. Start a new Netflix show and finish it by Sunday.
  7. Prepare to watch some good college football, because we all know "that game" (Ohio State vs Xichigan) is on Saturday.
  8. Deep clean your entire house. (Think "spring cleaning" but in the winter.)
  9. Make a playlist of your favorite Christmas songs.
  10. Teach your parents how to update their iPhones.
  11. Make a scrapbook of all the fun things you did this year.
  12. Clean out your spam email.
  13. Start working out, so people will think you have your act together for 2017.
  14. Go hang out at your high school and reminisce on the "good old' times".
  15. Go hang out at a bar in your hometown and see all the people from your high school trying to escape family time.
  16. Get rid of old documents, receipts and other things that are taking up space.
  17. Purge your friends on Facebook.
  18. While you're on Facebook, make sure you like my page.
  19. Read some more of my blog posts. My favorites are this onethis one, and this one.
  20. Start your own blog. (You could be almost as cool as me.)
  21. Watch all of the Harry Potter movies, in order, only taking breaks for food and bathroom.
  22. Think about all the things you are going to buy on Cyber Monday, where you can shop from the comfort of your own bed.
  23. Create your budget for Cyber Monday.
  24. Create your budget for 2017.
  25. Go shopping anyways, because you know you can't resist.
So yeah, I know I've been stalking my emails looking for the best deals already, and I'll probably end up doing #25 without doing #23.

Is there anything you're trying to get your hands on this holiday season? Leave me a comment!
