My Favorite Mobile Apps

I don't know about you, but my life is on my phone. I can do everything from checking my bank account to learning a new language, all from my phone.

Recently, I asked a question on Facebook about app organization. My apps are so unorganized compared to some of the girls, but I was interested in what they prioritized. I am not one to judge people by what apps they have on their phones, but I definitely have my favorites, whether they are you're on not...

Below are just a few of the apps that I use on a daily or weekly basis and highly suggest:

  • Instagram: This might not be your "go to" social media like it is for me, but I encourage you to download it if you haven't. You can follow puppy photos or motivational quotes or even your own real life friends.
  • Facebook: Not my favorite (I've debated deleting my account so many times) but I have it for the purpose of connecting with people who I don't see or talk to a lot. I have notifications turned off for Facebook though.
  • Twitter: I much prefer Twitter to Facebook, even though I don't have the biggest following. It allows me to rant as things are happening and forces me to abide by the 140-character limit.
  • Mint: I use Mint to keep all my financials in one place. I highly recommend this app. It allows me to see where my money is going and to budget for things. I've become more financially-aware thanks to Mint.
  • Lifesum: Lifesum is the app I use to track my health. I used to use 3 different aps, but Lifesum does it all. I can track water intake, and log my food and exercise in the app. It also syncs with my Apple watch, which is nice.
  • Starbucks: Because I need an app to encourage me to spend $5 on coffee. Plus, if you pay via the app, you earn stars and get free expensive coffee.
  • Bible: Sometimes I'm just craving a little Jesus, so the Bible app is perfect. You can change the version (I use NIV.)

  • Aftership: Very convenient for people who send or receive a lot of packages. You're able to track multiple carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx, and more) in one place, and you can also give your packages nicknames.
  • Etsy: For those who like to shop of Etsy, you probably already have this app. For those that don't, you should get it so you can stalk my etsy shop.
  • Duolingo: If you want to learn a new language, or brush up on your skills, Duolingo is really handy. I'm currently trying to teach myself French and I officially know how to say "the cat is black" and "the duck eats the bread."
  • Candy Crush: I'm biased but this is my favorite game because I can beat my boyfriend's scores. I do not pay for power ups or anything and I do my best to not annoy my Facebook friends, but it's nice because it can be played with or without data.
  • Hulu: I am a subscriber to Hulu, which is a paid TV-streaming service. I love being able to watch my TV shows on my phone. Hulu also syncs with my Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV, which is convenient. Click here (referral link) if you want to subscribe.
  • Scannable: This app was very handy in college, and still is. Scannable allows you to scan a document (single sheet of paper, or a book) and it turns it into a PDF that can be saved or emailed. And it looks like you used a real scanner.
  • Waze: If you want a navigation app that is a little bit more personalized for you, Waze is great. It's almost like a game: you unlock different things with all the miles that you drive. Waze also lets other people mark what they see on the road, like a pothole or a cop.

What are some of your "must have" apps, besides the basic apps that your phone comes with?

My questions for you, the reader: Do you use a basic app to do something that no one else thinks of? (I use my notes app, synced with my iCloud, to type out captions on my computer then paste them into Instagram from my phone.) I'd love to know!

  1. We share a lot of necessities! I didn't know about the Scannable app, but I'm definitely going to check it out!

One app that I need is Habitica. I track my habits and daily To Do's with this app. It doubles as a game so it makes it that much more fun!
