Victoria Likes Food: My Foodie Journey on Instagram


Good morning!

One of the things I plan to post about is fitness, health and dieting. First step, get a gym membership, which I did in November 2015. That is when I really started focusing on my health and diet. I made my "fitstagram" in February as a way to hold myself accountable and inspire others.

You've probably heard that "fitness is 20% exercise and 80% nutrition". I believe that to some extent. What you eat is a big factor into how much weight you lose. The problem is that I really like food...

I will never say that I am fat. I AM NOT FAT. I am just not where I want to be physically-speaking. When I was in college, I hit a plateau at 145 pounds and I just couldn't get any lower than that. Welp, shit happens and somehow since the summer before my senior year of college, I managed to almost hit 170 pounds.

I decided that 2016 was my year, my year to improve on myself. I'm thankful that I have such a great support system. I am not solely trying to lose weight. I would love to have more defined muscles. I also want to be able to run a half marathon without dying. (I'm running my first 10K at the end of April.)

One of the things that I've slowly started to realize is that what you eat really matters. I cut pop (soda, for all you non-midwesterners) out of my diet while I was in college. Sometimes I give in, but I slowly realize that the carbonation makes my stomach hurt so I can't drink too much anyways. I rarely eat cheese or drink milk (unless a recipe calls for it). I'm not cooking pasta as much, which I think is a good thing?

Since January, I'm gotten myself down to the low 160s, but of course weight fluctuates. Somedays, I'm 161 and others I'm 165, and it mostly depends on what I eat.

If you follow my fitness Instagram, I occasionally post food that I'm eating. (I always use the hashtag #victorialikesfood.) I'm working on getting better at cooking my own meals, but it's really hard when you're only cooking for one.
