Victoria Likes Food: Top This Donut Bar Review

On my blog in the past, I’ve posted recipes, and I’ve posted product reviews. Never before have I reviewed a restaurant, until now. I was not compensated for writing this review, I just wanted to share my foodie discovery.

I came across Top This Donut Bar thanks to a friend of mine sharing a photo on Instagram. I can never say no to donuts, but what sold me was the fact that I can customize the donuts to my own liking (and they don’t cost an arm and a leg). From donuts to cinnamon rolls to ice cream, this “bakery” offers everything under the sun and more, even coffee.

My first impression when walking into the establishment was that it was cute. They have tables and comfy chairs and televisions, along with a first class view of your food being decorated. The employees look like they enjoy their jobs and want to make you happy (and donuts are definitely the solution).

Andes Mints, bacon, bananas, blackberries, blueberries, chocolate chips, coconut, Fruity Pebbles, graham cracker, Heath Bar, M&M's, marshmallows, Oreo's, pecans, peppermints, raspberries, Reese's, rainbow sprinkles, and strawberries are just some of the toppings that they offer at Top This Donut Bar. Each location might have a different selection, but all are awesome.

I've also seen a variety of drizzles and glazes: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, maple, caramel, cream cheese, and even Sriracha sauce (I'll just let you do you, no judgement here).

Also, it doesn't stop at donuts at Top This Donut Bar. They also offer cookie cakes, ice cream, cinnamon rolls, and Rice Krispie treats to top with the same goodies as the donuts. For the record, all the donuts are cake donuts, so sorry if you are a yeast donut fan. The cake is very light and I enjoy it a lot.

What are my favorite combinations? Maple glazed with bacon, for sure. I also enjoy caramel glaze with sea salt and chocolate. Some other combinations I've tried are strawberry glaze with cream cheese, chocolate glaze with potato chips, and s'mores (chocolate glaze with marshmallows and graham crackers).

What makes these better than Dunkin Donuts/Tim Horton's/Other Donut Shops? That's the real question. If you're worried about price, you can always go with one of those shops, but you'll sacrifice the ability to personalize your donuts. A dozen donuts cost me roughly $18 and I think it is worth the extra money. You'd definitely get the attention of your coworkers!

The friend who introduced me to Top This Donut Shop, Jes, gave me a review to share, so that my opinions aren't the only ones you're reading:

"I'm not usually a fan of cake donuts, but I was surprised at how good the cake donut was at Top This. Their topping selection was also impressive."

If you are a local to Cincinnati, there are three locations for you to check out: Anderson, Xavier, and Ft Thomas. If you aren't local to Cincinnati, good luck finding something as awesome as this near you. I feel like I might become a frequent customer of this establishment, just because I can never say no to donuts.

My questions for you, the reader: Have you tried Top This Donut Bar? What is your favorite donut creation? If you know of similar places in other cities, feel free to let me know (I'd love to become a donut connoisseur).
